Magical Westfjords

Magical ravens once led a legendary Norse Viking explorer to a new land. He let them fly from his ship, watching as they disappeared into the sky, searching for land. Following their path, he arrived in the remote and rugged Westfjords of Iceland a land of deep fjords, steep mountains, and wild beauty.

Surrounded by ice and dramatic landscapes, he gave the land its name: Iceland. His name was Hrafna-Flóki, Hrafna meaning raven in Icelandic. He was one of the first to try settling in the land.

The Westfjords have always been something special. Far from the crowds, this region is known for its untouched nature, powerful landscapes, and peaceful way of life. It feels like stepping back in time, quiet, raw, and breathtaking.

At the heart of it all is Ísafjörður, the largest town in the Westfjords. It’s a cozy and creative place where nature and culture meet surrounded by mountains, full of charm, and home to music, local food, and stories of sea and snow.

From Ísafjörður, you can explore the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, accessible only by boat in the summer, and one of Iceland’s most remote and pristine wilderness areas.

No roads, no villages just pure Arctic beauty, where nature is completely undisturbed.
