DESCRIPTION:About the Race\nDistances\n\n18 km\n28 km\n43 km\n100 km\n\nDate\n1 August 2026 \nThe Súlur Vertical Trail Race is an exciting mountain running event held in Akureyri\, Iceland\, on 31 July–1 August 2026. Participants can choose from four challenging distances: \n\n18 km – The Falcon (Fálkinn)\n28 km – Súlur\n43 km – The Troll (Tröllið)\n100 km – The Goddess (Gyðjan)\n\nA Children’s Race will also take place on Friday\, 31 July. \n\nThe Races\nGyðjan – 100 km\nThe Gyðjan is a demanding 100 km mountain ultramarathon with 3\,580 metres of elevation gain. \nThe race begins at Goðafoss Waterfall and follows a spectacular route across Belgsárfjall and Vaðlaheiði toward Akureyri. Runners then climb Súlur Mountain\, continue into Glerárdalur Valley\, and finish in the centre of Akureyri. \n\nTröllið – 43 km\nThe Tröllið is a 43 km mountain race with 1\,870 metres of elevation gain. \nThe course climbs Súlur Mountain before following the mountain ridge into Glerárdalur Valley\, offering a demanding route through breathtaking scenery. \n\nSúlur – 28 km\nThe Súlur is a 28 km mountain race with 1\,410 metres of elevation gain. \nA challenging course that is achievable for most runners with good preparation. \n\nFálkinn – 18 km\nThe Fálkinn is an 18 km trail race with 530 metres of elevation gain. \nAn enjoyable and accessible course suitable for most runners. \n\nChildren’s Race\nA fun Children’s Race will be held in Kjarnaskógur Forest. \n\nSchedule\nAll races take place on Friday\, 31 July\, or Saturday\, 1 August 2026\, depending on the distance. \n\nMore Information\nFor full race details\, course maps\, registration\, and the latest updates\, please visit the official Súlur Vertical Trail Race website.

DESCRIPTION:Rauðavatn Ultra\nAbout the Race\nDistances\n\n21.1 km\n42.2 km (Marathon)\n100 km\n24-Hour Race\n\nDate\n7–8 August 2026 \nThe Rauðavatn Ultra returns for its second edition on Friday and Saturday\, 7–8 August 2026\, in Reykjavík\, Iceland. \nThe course consists of approximately 90% road running and 10% trail running\, following a 3.14 km loop around the scenic Rauðavatn Lake. \n\nRace Distances\nCompetitors can choose from the following events: \n\n21.1 km (Half Marathon)\n42.2 km (Marathon)\n100 km (Icelandic National Championship)\n24-Hour Race\n\nThe 24-hour event challenges runners to complete as many laps of the 3.14 km circuit as possible within 24 hours. \nThe 100 km race consists of 32 laps around Rauðavatn. The official time limit is 15 hours. \n\nRegistration\nRegistration is available through netskraning.is. \nRace bibs will be available for collection at Sportvörur 2–3 days before the event (exact dates will be announced) and at Rauðavatn from 8:00 am on race day\, or one hour before the start of each race. \nRegistration Policy\n\nRefunds are available until 26 July 2026.\nEntry transfers (name changes) are permitted until race day.\n\n\nLocation & Start Times\nAll races start at Rauðavatn\, Reykjavík\, near the Morgunblaðið building. \nFriday\, 7 August\n\n18:00 – 24-Hour Race\n23:59 – 100 km (for runners expecting a finish time of 12+ hours)\n\nSaturday\, 8 August\n\n02:00 – 100 km (for runners expecting to finish in under 12 hours)\n09:00 – Marathon (42.2 km)\n12:00 – Half Marathon (21.1 km)\n\nPlease note: The Half Marathon\, Marathon\, and 100 km races will have adjusted start positions on the course to ensure each distance finishes at the official finish line. \n\nAid Station\nThere will be one fully stocked aid station located at the start/finish area beside Rauðavatn inside a large event tent. Runners pass this station on every lap and may choose how often to stop for refreshments. \nAvailable refreshments include: \n\nWater\nSports drink\nCoca-Cola\nEnergy bars\nBananas\nApples\n\nPlease note that runners must enter the tent to collect food or drinks\, which may slightly slow progress. \nFor 100 km and 24-hour participants\, larger meals will be served periodically throughout the race. \n\nRace Rules\nGeneral Rules\nFor all race distances: \n\nRunners are not permitted to receive pacing assistance from anyone who is not officially entered in the event.\n\n\n24-Hour Race\n\nOne support person is permitted from the start.\nNo additional assistance is allowed on the course outside the official aid station.\nRunners may bring:\n\nExtra running shoes\nOne small luggage bag containing nutrition\, drinks\, clothing\, and spare equipment.\n\n\nBags will be stored on the tent floor\, subject to available space.\nA dedicated table will be available exclusively for 24-hour runners\, where participants may leave a small container (approximately 20 × 20 cm) with additional nutrition for easy access.\nAt the conclusion of the 24-hour race\, officials will signal the end using a whistle or public announcement system. Runners should:\n\nRemove their race bib.\nPlace it in the zip-lock bag provided during race packet collection.\nLeave the bag on the ground at the point where they stop.\nSecure it with a stone or gravel so timing officials can collect it.\n\n\n\n\n100 km Race\n\nOne support person is permitted from the start.\nNo additional assistance is allowed elsewhere on the course.\nRunners may bring:\n\nExtra shoes\nOne backpack containing nutrition and spare equipment.\n\n\nA dedicated table will be available for 100 km runners where a clearly labelled container (approximately 20 × 20 cm) may be stored with additional nutrition.\nThe official time limit is 15 hours.\nThe race concludes at midnight on Saturday\, after which all remaining runners will be stopped.\n\n\nMarathon (42.2 km)\n\nOne support person is permitted.\nNo support is allowed elsewhere on the course.\nRunners may place one small container with personal nutrition and drinks on the designated table at the aid station.\nNo additional belongings may be stored in the tent.\n\n\nHalf Marathon (21.1 km)\n\nNo support person permitted.\nNo outside assistance allowed on the course.\nNo personal equipment or supplies may be stored in the event tent.
